Bridges

If you've lost a tooth but are unable to get a dental implant, or if your health history precludes you from being a candidate for implants, a bridge might be the ideal solution for you. At Goodday Dental Care, we offer expertly crafted bridges to restore your smile and functionality.

What are Bridges?

Bridges are an effective way to replace lost teeth by creating a bridge consisting of one or multiple crowns spanning the gap between remaining teeth. This semi-permanent fixture, typically made of porcelain over metal, fits over existing teeth and provides a durable and aesthetic solution. Bridges can address the same problems as implants and offer an alternative for patients with specific needs and circumstances.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Bridge?

You might be a good candidate for a porcelain bridge if:

You’ve lost a tooth and the adjacent teeth already have crowns.

You have a complicated medical history and experience difficulty healing.

You have a bony defect and a bridge would make more aesthetic sense.

The Bridge Procedure

Three Appointments Needed

First Appointment: Preparation

During your initial visit at Goodday Dental Care in Orange, CA, both teeth on each side of the missing tooth will be numbed and prepared for crowns. Careful attention will be given to preparing the teeth with identical line angles to ensure an easy path of insertion for the bridge. An impression of the teeth will be taken, and a temporary bridge will be fabricated and polished. Your next appointment will be scheduled in two weeks.

Second Appointment: Framework Trial

At this visit, Dr. Kim will fit the framework for your bridge to ensure proper alignment. A dental X-ray will be taken to check the fit. If necessary, a luting acrylic will be used to connect the framework. Photos and a color guide will help the dental ceramist create lifelike, natural-looking teeth so that no one can detect that dental work was done.

Third Appointment: Final Placement

The final bridge will be tried in and assessed for function, comfort, and aesthetic approval. Another dental X-ray will ensure a quality fit. Once everything is approved, a permanent resin cement will be applied, and the bridge will be placed over the teeth. Any excess cement will be carefully removed, and you will be instructed on how to properly clean and floss underneath your bridge.

Benefits of Bridges

Aesthetics: Porcelain bridges are designed to look natural and blend seamlessly with your existing teeth.

Functionality: Bridges restore your ability to chew and speak properly, improving overall oral function.

Time: Bridges can restore your missing teeth faster than implant.
